Berryville - June 6, 2006 - The Virginia State
Board of Elections placed local Libertarian activist and lifelong
Virginia resident Wilbur “Bill Wood” on the ballot
this week.
“I want to restore accountability to our government and
reign in an out of control federal government,” Mr. Wood
said. “Congress and the President continually interfere
in more and more areas that they have no business being in and
keep spending and spending with no restraint.”
Wood and campaign manager Tony Torres visited Richmond on May
23rd to submit the 1,368 petition signatures gathered by Wood and
his team of volunteers. One thousand valid signatures are required
to get a candidate on the ballot for U.S. House of Representatives.
Wood promises to vote for responsible government, balanced budgets,
and to restore congressional oversight of the Executive Branch. He
will challenge incumbent Republican Frank Wolf and Democrat Judy
Feder for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mr. Wood concluded, “Each generation has a responsibility
to leave their children a country that is in better shape, more
free, and wealthier than they found it. This Congress and
this president are doing everything they can to leave our children
a country that is bankrupt. I intend to change that.”
