Fairfax – June 6, 2005 – Libertarian
candidate Chuck Eby received confirmation last week that he will
be on the ballot in the House of Delegates race for the 67th district
this November. He will be facing the winner of the Republican Primary
– either incumbent Gary Reese or challenger Chris Craddock.
No Democrat has announced intentions of running in the district.
Eby lives in Fair Lakes and works as a technical manager with a
large local defense contractor. He is a member of the Fairfax County
Taxpayers Alliance and the Virginia Club for Growth – both
groups advocate lower taxes. He has also signed the Americans for
Tax Reform pledge promising to “oppose and vote against any
and all efforts to increase taxes.”
“I was prompted to run when I discovered that my delegate,
Gary Reese, voted last year to raise our taxes and would likely
go unopposed - like last time - in this year’s election,”
said Eby.
“Our state government is already big enough,” said
Eby. “It is time for free market solutions, like expanding
the Public-Private Transportation Act of 1995, or experimenting
with school voucher programs to both get traffic moving and improve
our children’s education at a lower cost to taxpayers than
what we are paying now.”
“I am offering the voters of my district the opportunity
to vote for a candidate who wants to get government out of both
their pocketbooks and their private lives while at the same time
improving our quality-of-life,” said Eby.
Eby has laid a solid foundation for his campaign, including setting
up his campaign web site at www.Eby2005.com,
sending a statewide fundraising letter to Libertarian Party members,
and drafting campaign literature and signs. He recently sent out
a “flag letter” to 170 of his neighbors who were displaying
the American flag on Memorial Day.
“I thanked my patriotic neighbors for taking pride in their
country, and asked them to vote for me in November,” said
Eby.
Eby has been a party member since 1995, and a party activist since
2001. He is currently the 10th Congressional District chairman.
